Equal Opportunities

To work against the spread of HIV and minimize the effect of AIDS, gender issues need to be addressed. Many people say that equality between genders “is a must” or “obvious”, but few organisations and authorities in the world manage to put words into action. AIDS has shown us that we have to deal with everything connected to sexual and reproductive health and rights, which largely means that women and girls need to be better educated and fully equipped to be able to stay healthy. This also means that men have to take on the responsibility to give power to women and strive to let all planning, implementation and evaluation of AIDS programmes be fully enhanced through the participation of both men and women on equal grounds.
